I am one lucky girl! And I actually have to thank my brother for it. I've been living in Antigua, Guatemala for the past two months almost and have been to wrapped up in daily life and settling in that my family and I haven't had a chance to get out and enjoy this glorious city. My brother had some free time and came to visit us for a short visit and to be the good hosts and also introduce him authentic Guatemalan food. Truth be told, I needed some introducing in this field myself.
The most popular typical restaurant Cuevita de las Urquiza. We tried all the most popular dishes such as Jocon, which is a green colored sauce but not spicy, and Pepian De Pollo, which is similar to a chicken stew. Plus a ton of tamales, salads and good wine!
But the best part was that they gave us the best seat in the house. On the roof top is room for one private table. Not only did we get to waiters waiting on us, but we also got the volcano and candlelit!
It was an unexpected perfect experience!
