Beaches Negril Resort & Spa: The Fitness Center

by

BeachesFitnessCenterLounging on the beautiful white sand beach, sipping fruity tropical drinks all day and indulging in more (delicious) food than one should probably consume all year is my idea of the perfect island vacation day. I lived out that fantasy when I stayed at Beaches Negril Resort & Spa in Jamaica for the 2012 Reggae Marathon, Half Marathon & 10K. While I enjoyed spoiling myself I wanted to stay on track with my fitness routine – and stay in my bikini – so I got my workout on at the resort’s fitness center.

Like everything else at this tropical paradise the Fitness Center is a beautiful facility that’s inviting to use even if you’re not a regular workout queen. It features:

  • 900 sq. ft. aerobics and workout area
  • 900 sq. ft. air-conditioned gymnasium fully equipped with elliptical/total body, treadmills, recliner bikes and free weights
  • Whirlpool
  • Surround sound system
  • Personal trainers & scheduled classes

Here’s a peek inside the facility:

I did a short strength training circuit on the fitness machines and used some of the free weights for ab work; and I had the facility all to myself. I loved the privacy, but also liked that the wall length windows that provided an open outdoorsy feel. Everything was clean, neat, fully functional and it was easy to use. I recommending calling ahead about personal training, class times and the beach walk/runs to make sure they’re happening as scheduled – especially if you’re visiting during the slow, off-peak season.
