Located in northern Arizona, Flagstaff lies along the western side of the largest contiguous Ponderosa Pine forest in the Continental United States. Flagstaff was named for a Ponderosa Pine flagpole made by a scouting party from Boston in celebration of America’s Centennial on July 4, 1876. 1. Movies on the Square – See free feature films at Heritage Square in downtown Flagstaff. Fridays at 6 p.m. through September. Check Web site for schedule.
2. Concerts in the Park – This concert series features local musicians. Six Wednesday nights between June and August – check Web site for locations. Bring blankets and/or chairs. 5:30 p.m. start.
